University of Adelaide Australia
Accommodation

Accommodation:

There is a wide variety of accommodation, ranging from private apartments to homestay. It really depends on the student’s preferences and budget. There are regular, contract-based accommodation services provided by the University such as Urbanest.

When choosing an accommodation, remember to consider the location. Travelling time in Adelaide can be pretty long and take a toll when you’re juggling University and other commitments.  Do note that exams are held at The Adelaide Showground as it might be handy to take into consideration when looking for a place to stay!

The quality of your accommodation really depends on whether you have good housemates. Some can be really fun while some can be messy and unreasonable. Pray hard! They also conduct events and parties -  great opportunity to make new friends!

You must be willing to do your fair share of household chores and cooking when sharing an apartment. Rent is definitely cheaper if you’re staying outside of the city. However, travel time to school is longer. There are some places located in the city going at really great prices but may be in a slightly dodgier area of town. That being said, Adelaide city centre is generally pretty safe.

Flying Chalks’ tip: It is cheaper to rent a shared apartment with your peers. There are plenty near the university campuses. You can easily find roommates at flatmates.com or gumtree.com.
