There isn’t much to do in Tulsa as a city, but the people here are the nicest I’ve ever met. Friends are really easy to make. I loved the warm, Southern hospitality. Everyone smiles and talks to you, even if you’re a stranger. The city center is about a 10 minute drive from campus, but there is no public transport. I always had to ask for lifts from the locals. For entertainment, it’s probably better if you go out of Tulsa.
I stayed in a university apartment and even though no furnishings were provided other than in the kitchen, I really really liked the place. Academics-wise, the students are all very passionate about what they study. They study hard, but grades are secondary to them. Rather, there is a lot of emphasis of self-discovery and learning for passion. Exchange students could interact a lot with locals in class because classes were very small, often with less than 20 people. Also, everyone is very friendly, so it was very easy to participate in class discussions.

TU is a pretty small university, however it is considered as the best university in Oklahoma. Classes are really small, it ranges from 8 to 30 students per class. Small class has its benefits as it facilitates more in-dept discussion among students and professor.
I was really fascinated by the fact that even though TU is a small school, it has great sports facilities (fitness centres, basketball arena). That made my stay as sports enthusiast really enjoyable. My favourite moments was attending big basketball games when TU hosting those big schools. I have also made many American friends while playing basketball in the fitness centre.
Do not afraid to speak to the students and make friends as people there are really friendly and helpful. Join the university event immerse yourself in the American culture. Studying abroad in University of Tulsa was definitely the highlight of my university life.
