Accommodation:

Dormitory
Rikkyo University, in cooperation with Kyoritsu Maintenance Co. Ltd, offers the Rikkyo University International Dormitory (RUID) Asakadai and Shiki as designated accommodations for incoming exchange students. Estimated housing expenses:

  • Residence Fee (4 months): JPY 322,200 (Fall), JPY 214,800 (Spring) Fire Insurance (Mandatory): JPY 3,000 (one-time)
  • Meal Plan (Optional): JPY 16,300 per month
  • Bed Linen Leasing (Optional): JPY 16,300 (4 months)

Rikkyo University itself has three dormitories: Shinnamachi, Asakadai, and Shiki.

Shiki is about 20 minutes by train from school. It offers single-rooms that come equipped with your own toilet, electric stove, and fridge. Moreover, it is spacious considering how the homes in Japan are usually relatively small. Shiki also gives you the option of signing up for a meal plan where your breakfast and dinner will be provided for from Monday to Saturday for just 15,000 yen/month. As for laundry, you can use their washing machine for free, but it costs 100 yen/30 minutes to use the dryers. More accommodation information is available here!

Flying Chalks’ tip: Residing in dorm will be a really great experience because you will get to spend a lot more time with other exchange students and they also have bonding activities such as Sunday potlucks every now and then. Alternatively, you can also choose to source for your own apartment.
