I have completed a semester at Hanyang University (Seoul Campus) under the Visiting Student Programme (self-application) and had a great time there! At the start of the semester, each student is required to make the Student ID Card which doubles as a bank card/debit card and T-money. In terms of lessons, most Professors would usually take attendance every week but workload is still manageable, definitely there is plenty of time for you to travel around. Personally, I stayed near the Seoul Forest and my accommodation is within walking distance to the school. I think it's great because you can save on the transportation costs. Food is definitely something to look out for as well, especially since you are around Wangsimni area! From affordable meal which starts as low as 4000KRW to alleys filled with KBBQ shops, there are many choices you can choose from. Make a visit to the Noraebang around the area too if you enjoy singing. Highly recommended for you to go for an exchange at Hanyang since it is a convenient place to be in. You would enjoy your time too if you want to know more about Korean culture in general or is a huge KPOP fan (there was Epik High performance once at the Amphitheater during the Chuseok period). Will be helpful to download Hanyang Campus map as well to get around the school at the start.

My Hanyang University Exchange experience was awesome. Initially, I was choosing between Hanyang unviersity off campus housing and Hanyang University dorm but ultimately I chose the later one as I prefer to stay within Campus. I enjoyed staying on Campus and made many friends too. Since my Hanyang University exchange experience was really good, I decided to attend Hanyang University Summer School to lengthen my stay in Korea :)

I very much enjoyed my time at Hanyang University! Almost everything is made convenient at HYU especially when the school mandates us to open a bank account even if you don’t want to. The student card doubles as a bank card and can be used almost everywhere (transport, 7/11, GS25 etc.)! All we had to do is fill up the student card application form with no additional cost involved (only your passport). Talking about convenience, there’s a subway station named after the university, lots of eateries, places to shop and Emart located nearby! Down side is that there's no transport within the campus so you’ll have to climb the hill daily… But all in all, HYU has a vibrant campus and houses many places with good food and places to “chill”. I personally favour the ones at ecology building/ Hangyang Plaza. Not the mention the Chritmas vibes when it’s almost time for Thanks Giving! To sum, I would definitely recommend Hanyang University to those who are planning of their exchange. Who knows what else you’ll find! (;

It was fun during my exchange in Hanyang Summer School. I experienced many things there during the short field trips as well as their cultures, such as the Boryeong Mud Festival. I met many new people both international and local students. They are all very helpful and friendly. The good thing is that Hanyang Summer School is very near the train station which is the Hanyang University Station. Hence, easy access to town.

I was there for HISS 2015. It was generally great experience for me. Strongly recommended to go for the events that Hanyang International Summer School provides, especially Boryeong Mud Festival. Great opportunity to see what it is like to be schooling in Korea, although only Summer feels. Real advice is that, there will be a lot of Singaporean students who will be there to clear modules in relatively low cost. So it's generally tough to get an exposure to racial diversity and make Korean friends unless one really gets out of the comfort zone. If you want to travel and see more of Korea, i would recommend you take 2 modules rather than 3. I took 3 and it was tiring. In general, it was a good experience and also a very practical one.

I've completed my HISS programme last summer and it truly was great! Although my experience at Hanyang isn't long as Summer School only holds for few weeks, I treasure those periods and the opportunity given. Unfortunately, due to its popularity, lectures I had attended were full of students from Singapore. So, if you are planning for HISS in future and to meet new Korean or international friends, you might want to consider taking non-engineering courses. I had my own timetable scheduled from 9am to 5pm since I personally wanted to map three modules. Oh and they always take attendance and it's graded for some mods. Since going for exchange or summer school isn't just about studying, I highly recommend this programme if you're either a fan of Korean culture/language or even drinking!! ??? Wangsimni would be just right for you to try out real Korean bbq and Soju. Perhaps this might be the one you'd enjoy the most!

My student exchange at Hanyang University was a memorable one. I enjoyed hanging out with both local and foreign exchange students. There are also festivals and events held during the semester, where students from all faculties can hang out together. The school is also located near the Seoul Forest, where you can enjoy the nature and visit the Ecology Forest. It will be a great hangout place with friends after school or during the weekends. Apart from the dormitories offered by the school, there are also many Goshiwon/Hasukjib (boarding house) within 5-10mins walk from Hanyang University. It will be a great option for students who want to experience living alone, or to learn more about the Korean culture.

I had a great exchange in Hanyang during the last fall semester. Hanyang has provided me with lots of fond memories, including the activities organized for the exchange students (festivals, CCA, field trips etc), and the beauty of the school premise. The professors and students are extremely welcoming and friendly too! If you're a foodie, you could explore the area around Wangsimni, which is just a stone's throw away from Hanyang!
