The University Of Georgia United States
Accommodation

Accommodation:

You can book “Orientation housing” during orientation week before looking for or moving into permanent housing. For more information can be found here.

In terms of long-term housing, you can either live on-campus or off-campus. Most exchange students choose to live on campus, in which case you will be placed in East Campus Village.

On Campus: If you sign up for on-campus housing, you will be assigned to one of UGA’s newest residence hall community, East Campus Village (ECV). The suites on reserve for exchange students contain four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Housing cost is $3320/semester per person (2015-16 rates).

ECV is a residence hall primarily for upper division students and also student athletes. It is close to many other UGA facilities such as the Ramsey Center, which is the sports complex; the Visual and Performing Arts Center; the University Health Center; The Village Summit dining hall, and the Intramural Fields.

Resident Assistants are available to provide support to students, supervise, and make sure everything is great in the apartments. There is also a 24/7 help desk service at the main ECV office.

University Housing is open during university breaks so students can travel and leave their belongings safe in the apartments. It is an apartment-style arrangement with each student having her/his own bedroom. Features of the apartment include a common living area and a kitchen with full size refrigerator and microwave. While there is no stove/oven within the suite, the main building of ECV has a full kitchen where students can make dinner or have community events. You should also be aware that ECV is a no-smoking facility. Students must have a UGA MyID to register for housing.

Registration is completed through The Dawg House and does not require you to enroll at UGA. View Assignments Policies page, the Community Guide and FAQs for more detailed information. You can pay for Housing through Student Account, which you also use to pay for all other services.

Off Campus: Only a handful of exchange students live off campus per semester. It is not recommended to live off campus unless you have personal connections, perhaps from past exchange students or friends in the country. However, if you do decide to stay off-campus, choose your roommates wisely and make sure you are aware of their habits/practices!
