Dormitory:

First year UNLV students taking 6 or more credits are required to live in the Dayton hall dormitories. Students who live in the dormitories are also required to sign up for UNLV’s meal plans. Other students also have the option of living on campus in UNLV’s dormitories.

You must fill out a questionnaire where its purpose is to match with you with a compatible roommate. You also have the option of requesting roommates and buildings.

Shared dorm rooms start at $2,700 USD per semester and can go to $2,940. Double shared dorm rooms include a shared bathroom with a separate suite. Single rooms start at $3,320 and go up to $3,720 USD. Summer rates are also offered for students who are maximizing their credit load and taking summer school.

For full-time students, the housing fees are combined into tuition fees and are payable at the same time as tuition payments. Students can pay on their My UNLV account, or in person through the Office of Cashiering.

Apply for housing at: unlv-housing.com
A $125 USD non-refundable application fee is mandatory upon completion of your application.

Flying Chalks’ tips:

  • First time dorm dwellers will find a ton of excitement and fun by living on campus. You will also have easy access to all your classes; never having to worry about parking and running into class late. As food is included in your living expenses, you too do not have to worry about high meal expenses or grocery shopping.
  • Most incoming freshmen meet lifelong friends and companions in the dormitories. This is an amazing and easy way for international students to meet their colleagues. With planned game nights and activities, it will not be long before students are acquainted with their entire building.

Apartments:

Students can also look for apartments off campus. These will most likely range from $700-$900 a month for a 1-bedroom apartment, and $500-600 a month for a studio.
