Accommodation

Accommodation

All first year undergraduate students live in on campus. These may be fully-catered or self-catered, shared or private bathroom, and be an individual or shared room. The type of accommodation depends on the college they are in. You can learn about what is available at each college here.

After the first year, students may choose to move out to private flats or shared houses. There will be housing events held and information will be sent to you to assist you in finding the perfect accommodation. The student union will also support you in this process.

Exchange Students

Only fee paying Study Abroad students and Overseas Exchange students are eligible for university accommodation. This option is not available for Eramus+ students. Do contact the accommodation office for more details.

Post-graduate Students

Post-graduate students can choose to live on campus, or opt for private accommodation. Information will be sent to you once you are enrolled at the university. Do keep accommodation preferences in mind when you are choosing the college to stay in.

Private Housing

To rent a flat as a student, landlords often require students to produce a copy of their visa, bank statement, evidence of a UK guarantor as well as an upfront rental payment of 6- to 12-months.

Other popular sites that the general population uses to find flats would be SpareroomRoomster and RightmoveAccommodation for Students is a platform that attempts to pair landlords with tenants.

Flying Chalks’ tip: Room sharing is common in the older colleges. While many students are nervous about this, you can be rest assured that roommates will be allocated based on your preferences to ensure that you guys can get along well!
