International students in Korea can apply for a wide array of scholarships available to pursue their Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Korea, at a fraction of a cost; ranging from Language-based scholarships and Application-based scholarships to that of School-based scholarships and Government scholarships. We have since received many questions on how you can obtain one of these scholarships.

Learn more about the scholarship options in Korea from our article, "Scholarships Available for Studying Abroad in South Korea".

1. Eligbility for Scholarships

The first step is to find out whether you are eligible for these scholarships, or how you can prepare yourself to be eligible for them. For example, Language-based scholarships may require you to obtain an official language certificate such as IELTS or TOPIK, and Application-based scholarships will require you to be placed amongst the top percentage of applications. 2. Application to Desired Korean Universities

After ensuring you have met the requirements, the next step is to apply to your desired universities. Application for scholarships is usually part of the university application process and not separate, as most scholarships are only offered after you have been successfully admitted to the university. Hence, even if you can only study abroad with a scholarship, you will still have to invest some money in applying to the university first.
