I'm Janelle, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Management at the University of Queensland. Read along as I delve into the reasons of why I decided to study abroad in Australia!

1. Cultural Diversity

As a business student, there is always a mix of students from all around the world in my classes. Studying with a large mix of students from different backgrounds exposed me to different perspectives on study topics.

2. Nature in Australia

Secondly, if you enjoy nature, Australia is definitely the destination for you. As a “city girl”, I am more squeamish about bugs, snakes and all things Australian. But the vast amount of nature always wins me over to explore the amazing flora and fauna of Australia. One of the bucket-list destinations that I travelled to is the Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef system and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is only a 2-hour flight from Brisbane. Over there, I got to swim with jellyfish and even small reef sharks!

3. World-Class Academic Institutions

Thirdly, I chose Australia for the world-class universities as academic excellence was a priority for me when choosing a university. Australia was a straightforward choice for me, with plenty of options. The University of Queensland is ranked 47th in the World, and is part of the Top 5 universities in Australia

4. High-Paying Part-Time Jobs

One of my favourite things about Australia is the high-paying part-time jobs (also known as casual jobs in Australia). The minimum wage in Australia is at A$23.23/hour, for those who are 21 and over. On top of the base rate, students also get to earn higher rates when working during weekends or public holidays.

5. Work-Life Balance

Last but not least, as a firm believer in work-life balance, Australia is the perfect place to be surrounded by people who work hard and party hard as well. If there is anything Australians love commonly, it’s definitely a cold pint of beer.
