Australia is a goldmine for university scholarships, many of which are available for international students as well. In this article, we explore the different types of scholarships offered in Australia and the top-tier universities that offer them.
1. Full-Ride Scholarships
Full-ride scholarships offer subsidised tuition fees by the university based on academic performance and merit. These scholarships require detailed applications that usually entail an interview process and a review of your cover letter where a well-rounded education and success in multiple facets of life are looked at.
2. Partial Scholarships
The second type is partial scholarships, where anywhere between 15% - 50% of the recipient’s tuition is paid for. A few of these include the ANU Chancellor’s International Scholarship, which offers 200 separate awards and waives 25% of the recipient’s tuition fees. There is also the Bond University International Undergraduate Excellence scholarship, which remits 50% of the tuition fees for the recipient.

3. Grants
Thirdly, students may receive grants in which a lump sum of money is granted to offset the tuition fees either on a one-time basis or for however long the program lasts. One example is Monash University's International Study Grant which provides students with A$5,000 or A$10,000 depending on the outcome of their assessment.
It is important to decide on the university you want to attend and then explore scholarship options, as each process is different. Also note that as a rule of thumb, most scholarships are centred around academic merit.
